Kearney, NE. - The Spartans took care of business and played four nice quarters of football Friday night at the UNK field in front of 1,100 fans. In the end, East prevailed 24-7 over the Kearney Bearcats. The win clinched at playoff berth for the Spartans.

Saul Bakewell was the workhorse on this evening rushing 96 yards in 30 carries. Great up front blocking by the offensive line and Keenan McCurdy helped Bakewell score 3 touchdowns of 1 yard each. Having his best night McCurdy rushed for 53 yards.

Defensively, the Spartans were rock solid all night with some key tackles by Casey Roberts and Duane Nelson. Bakewell and Matt Dingledine interceptioned Kearney passes. The victory gives the Spartans a 6-2 record and drops Kearney to 4-4.
