Lincoln, NE. - Spartan Defense played a superb game against cross town rival Lincoln High. A crowd of 3,001 fans witnessed three touchdown runs by Saul Bakewel1. The first touchdown came from 3 yards out at the start of the second quarter. Saul also ran 3 yards for a third quarter score and in the final stanza he broke loose for a 37 yard run.

Defense was the name of the game on this night and the Spartans held the Links to two first downs and 41 total yards in the second half. Sam Wu intercepted a fourth quarter pass to setup Tony Tabatabai's 37 yard field goal. The game got a little tempered in the fourth quarter when Lincoln High was flagged for over 80 yards in penalty's and East 30 yards. For the most part the Spartans remained cool through this period. Drew Mandelko must be praised for walking away from an obvious flagerant personal foul and Boomer Russo should get an award for the best given "bull ride" on a 30 yard penalty by Lincoln High.

Hats off to the offensive line who drew praise from Lincoln High's coach John Farrand. The Spartan line has produced 856 yards on the ground since the Southeast game.
