Lincoln, NE - The Spartan football team unleash the years frustrations on a 2-1 Lincoln High team with a 41-15 thrashing before 2,861 Lincoln fans. The confidence and growth of the young Spartans continues to build from week to week.

East got on the board early in the first quarter when Drew Zobel swept around right end for a two yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Links turned the ball back to East on the Links 12 yard line when a bad snap went bad for Lincoln High. A pass from Scott Sunderman to Jacob Thompson in the corner resulted in a first quarter 14-0 lead. East put pressure on Lincoln High's punt team again as Zobel got a hand on a partial block. Starting from the Links 24 yard line, Zobel polished off the final 5 yards on another sweep to get the Spartans the lead 20-0. Lincoln came back with it's best drive of the evening with a 12 play drive, resulting in a Dylan Flinn 1 yard quarterback plunge.

Any momentum Lincoln High had gained prior to halftime was soon gone when Tim Oehring recovered a fumble on the Links 30 yard line. The Spartans took that drive 30 yards to paydirt when Sunderman found Tyson Clark for a 9 yard touchdown. Sunderman continued to have a great night with 149 yards and rambled 65 yards to score the Spartans 5th touchdown on the evening. T.J Gibbons intercepted a Jeff Morrison tipped ball to set up the final Spartan touchdown. Brice Bostwick, sophomore quarterback, scored on good run up the middle on 4th and 7. Lincoln High continued to play hard and East emptied the bench as Flinn scored the final Links points on a 4 yard run.

The Spartans have really improved over the weeks and now take on a very tough Eklhorn team. This past weekend Elkhorn upset Millard South and have a 3-1 record after moving from Class B last year. Next week will be a great test to see how the Spartans have progressed over the last 4 weeks. Elkhorn will be the first game in District play. Great time for the Spartans to pull an upset.
